It seems like Bolivians take any holiday as an excuse to spend the day with their families, not working. May 1st (Labor Day) is no exception. Off from school, the girls spent a relaxing day in the Bicentennial Park–splashing in the pool and fountains, running around the skate-board park, playing volleyball in the grass, and seeking respite in the shade of their family-sized tent. Tía Celia packed a picnic of meatballs, rice, beet salad and cinnamon “refresco.” Everyone was in good spirits, enjoying the freedom and tranquility of the park.
